Sponsoring Yearly Flea Market in Hsinchu Science Park : ZC of Hsinchu Partners with the Community to Say “No to Violence”
On November 8, ZC of Hsinchu sponsored charitable organizations at the 34th Flea Market in Hsinchu Science Park by setting up booths for a charity sale. In addition to donating to the Modern Women’s Foundation, ZC of Hsinchu invited community residents to join the initiative “Zonta Says No to Violence,” which received enthusiastic support.
ZC of Hsinchu President Ada Lin stated that the "Zonta Says No to Violence" campaign transcends age, gender, and location. She believes that initiative is everywhere. "Building on last year’s community initiative to unite community of the Science Park in the “Zonta Says No to Violence” movement, this year’s campaign saw participation from people across three generations—young, middle-aged, and elderly—along with men joining the cause. This successful expansion of the movement effectively sparked a community-wide resonance on ending gender-based violence, which is highly commendable.
Ada Lin mentioned that this year, ZC of Hsinchu not only expanded its support for charitable organizations by offering more booths for the sale of donated goods, but also encouraged people to support these causes by purchasing items. This effort helped raise funds for long-standing charitable organizations dedicated to women and children’s welfare. The organizations supported by ZC of Hsinchu include the Modern Women’s Foundation, Taiwan Association for Happy Breathing Children - Hsinch Branch, and disadvantaged women.
On the day of the event, volunteers from the Modern Women’s Foundation raised a total of 8,000 NT dollars through their charity sale. President Ada Lin, together with the club members, also donated an additional 20,000 NT dollars to the Modern Women’s Foundation to encourage and support their long-term commitment to advocating for women and children’s rights.
For many years, the ZC of Hsinchu has participated in the Flea Market in Hsinchu Science Park’s second-hand goods market, which not only supports environmental goals but also benefits both the individuals and the community. This event not only provided an opportunity for club members to socialize, increased community interaction, and enhanced the local visibility of ZC of Hsinchu, but more importantly, it successfully invited the public to join the “Zonta Says No to Violence” campaign. This drew attention to women’s rights and the fight to end violent behavior, making the advocacy initiative one of the highlights of the flea market!
The event was a resounding success, and together, let’s continue to engage with the community and work towards creating a better world for women.
